The Allora Family Tree

Hello everyone with the last name Allora!!!

I am Vincent Michael Allora, son of Vincent Gerald Allora and Lynda Bailey from Bloomfield, New Jersey.

My father's parents names are Louis Michael Allora and Annette Champi.

My goal is to create a detailed database of information documenting the lineage of the Allora Family Tree from its origins in Italy to present.

I also intend to include photographs and current contact information for the members of the Allora Family. As many of you probably know, the word allora in Italian translates as "and then" or "at that time", and if you have ever been to Italy you probably wondered how everybody knew your name and why they kept saying it over and over and over again in conversation!!!

So the question remains, is our last name "Allora" a given name when our ancestors arrived at Ellis Island and were talking to each other when they were asked for their name, kind of like the derogatory term "WOP" given to Italians from it's supposed origins as the acronymn for "With Out Papers" or "With Out Passport", or could it really be the actual last name of our family back in the old country???
